Prayer
It’s not always easy to find time to pray, and sometimes when we’re most in need of prayer it’s hard to find the words.

Inside St Mary’s, if you walk up the left hand side of the church you will find a small prayer pool with a pile of pebbles beside it. Instead of lighting a candle to accompany a prayer, you can place a pebble in the pool and write down in the book beside it what you are praying for.
Every week the pebbles are removed and taken and placed on the altar table at Wednesday communion and a special prayer is said during the intercessions.
If you can’t make it into church, please put your request for prayer into the box below and click the ‘Hear my prayer’ button below and we will ensure that your prayer is added into the book.
Loving God, in our weakness we come to you for strength and help as we face the changes and challenges of our lives.
Help us to look to you, to trust you and to bring life and hope to others;
in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen
Here’s a beautiful prayer from St Francis of Assisi – it was used recently at New Horizons:
|
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace Where there is hatred, let me sow love Where there is injury, pardon Where there is doubt, faith Where there is despair, hope Where there is darkness, light Where there is sadness, joy Master grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console To be understood as to understand To be loved as to love For it is in giving that we receive It is in pardoning that we are pardoned And it is dying that we are born to eternal life. AMEN
