Evensong at St Mary’s Nantwich

The 6.00pm Sunday Evensong Service is taken from the Book of Common Prayer. It generally takes the format of four hymns, a sermon, sung psalm and intercessions and is usually accompanied by the St.Mary’s Church Choir. The duration of the service is approximately seventy minutes.

It is a devout service to end the week and to give us the strength of faith to start the new week.

Occasionally the 6.00pm Evensong Service is replaced with the choir leading Choral Evensong.

Once per month the Evensong service is replaced with a service of Traditional Holy Communion. Also at 6.00pm special annual services take place including “A Celebration of Christian Marriage” and “Eastertide Memorial Service” to name but two.

This Summer the sermons at the Evensong Service are following the theme of the ‘I am’ sayings of Jesus in John’s gospel. The forthcoming events page includes the sermon theme where known at this time.

"May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God our Father and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us for ever more."        2 Corinthians 13:14
