Christmas Shoebox Appeal

St Mary’s has offered again to be a ‘drop-off’ point for Teams 4U Christmas Shoebox Appeal. The Shoeboxes are actually needed in the first two weeks of November in order that they can be delivered to Eastern Europe or Africa by Christmas. So, we shall begin collecting at St Mary’s on Sunday October 31st 2021 and expect to end on Thursday November 18th.  Church is open 9.30am to 4pm Monday-Saturday and for services on Sunday.

Your Shoebox will be given to a vulnerable child, or family, through schools, nurseries, hospitals and orphanages. Our aim is that each box is given in relationship with the local community as part of a long-term commitment to these children.

Please be a part of this ongoing story which continues to impact and change lives, by donating a shoebox.

Here’s how to start: Find a suitable shoebox and wrap it with Christmas paper. Wrap the lid separately so Border Customs could open it without spoiling it if they were to check its contents.

Add £2.50 in an envelope to cover the transport cost, or donate this online [preferred] www.teams4u.com

Let us know which age group you intend it for and whether it’s for a boy or girl by labelling the lid. Teams4U labels can be printed off from the website. If you download and fill in the Gift Aid form too the £2.50 becomes £3.12.

What to put in it? Here are some ideas:

Practical supplies

Toothbrush and toothpaste
Hairbrush/comb
Facecloth and soap
Stationery/pens/pencils/paper
Gloves/hats/scarves
Craft Pack
Sewing Kit.

A few small gifts

A soft toy
Ball
Game
Puzzle
Bubbles
Musical instrument i.e. harmonica/recorder

A few sweets

A photo of yourself

BUT PLEASE:

No medicines
No food (except chocolate & sweets)
No ‘military themed’ toys or clothing
No dangerous items such as knives or razors
No novels (picture books & colouring books are OK)

AND FINALLY, close the lid with a rubber band and take it to Church knowing it will spread joy when opened far away.

God Bless.
